Sigma Pro Photographer, Dave FitzSimmons

Sigma Pro Photographer, Dave FitzSimmons, will be leading a seminar entitled: FUN-damentals of Macro Photography. Enjoy seeing miniature worlds in new ways by exploring up-close and personal photography—everything from delicate flowers to bizarre-looking insects. Develop your own mini-world view by carefully selecting subjects, creating unique perspectives, and building strong compositions. We will also explore the range of tools available to macro photographers, from specialized lenses, ring flash, and close-up filters to extension tubes, reversing rings, and light tents, not to mention software ideal for photographing diminutive subjects.

Dave will also have an exhibit at the festival - Curious Critters. In “Curious Critters” he brings softly lit luminous backgrounds to animal portraiture, letting creatures stand solo, uninfluenced by land, sea, or sky. Seen from eye-level, these often-overlooked creatures—from flies and frogs to snakes and squirrels—look captivating, colorful, beautiful, and bizarre. The exhibit invites visitors to a new kind of overlook: a place where seeing, appreciating, and caring for all beings is paramount.

Dave FitzSimmons is a free-lance photographer and writer as well as a Professor of English. Dave photographs and writes for various magazines, including Popular Photography and Shutterbug, newspapers, and online publications.
