Latest Photo Festival News

We have added our final workshop to this year's festival. Tim Kemple and Camp4 Collective will be leading a three day DSLR and digital video workshop. This workshop is divided into three segments: Beginning Video Shooting, Advanced Video Shooting and Video Post Production. Each segment can be purchased individually. Tim and Camp4 shot and produced The North Face sponsored and award winning Towers of Ennedi--which will be featured at our DSLR Film Festival. Tim will also be giving a presentation at the festival. We are hoping that Renan Ozturk, one of Camp4's principles, will also be able to make the festival.

Tim Kemple & Camp4 Collective - DSLR Adventure Video
Tim Kemple along with Camp4 Collective are on the cutting edge of adventure video production--particularly in the use of DSLR video. Tim and Camp4 will show you how to shoot and edit digital video. The workshop is structured in a way to where you can take the beginning shooting, advanced shooting, and video editing as individual courses or as a comprehensive whole. In addition to the use of DSLR video, Tim will discuss the use of high end video cameras like the Red and Phantom systems and when use of such systems are appropriate.

The festival is still in the process of looking for DSLR film submissions. This first year is non-juried and without awards. Consequently we are not asking for fees for submissions. Please contact us directly in regards to having your film shown at this year's festival. Please note that ALL FILMS NEED TO HAVE BEEN SHOT USING A DSLR CAMERA. Have them email Eric Moore, Executive Director, eric@telluridephotofestival.com.

Additionally, we are rounding out our list of portfolio reviewers for this year's festival. If you know someone that is involved in the photographic industry professionally (photographer, photo editor, photo buyer, etc.), and wants to attend this year's festival please have them contact Crystal Geise, Festival Director, crystal@telluridephotofestival.com. For two shifts of five 30 minute reviews, the reviewer will receive lodging and a standard pass to the festival. Plus it's a great time.

We are now accepting applications for volunteers. Since we are having all of the seminars and portfolio reviews at the Telluride Conference Center this year, we need more volunteers to help hang and take down exhibits before and after the festival. This will give you the opportunity to sit in on more of the festival events. We won't need as many volunteers as last year and priority will be given to those that volunteered their time previously.

Finally, there has been some feedback lately that people are undecided about coming to the festival because the entire lineup of seminars, symposiums, and other events have yet to be posted. Unfortunately we don't often get confirmations from companies and individuals sometimes only a few weeks out from the festival dates. It is not easy to organize such a large event with as many diverse pieces as this festival has. One of the ideas behind early pricing is that you the attendee have faith that the festival is going to be as good or exceed the previous festival. Additionally, you can receive your money back on a pass (minus a $20 cancelation fee) up until September 1, 2011. With this all said, we are going to be posting some of the information we know in regards to seminars, symposiums, and portfolio reviewers in the next few weeks.
